Cruising Course Authorship, References & Credits

Online Sailing Lessons & Schools

This online sailing lesson is designed to present advanced information about cruising and sailing in US waters.  Beginning and Novice Sailors should take the US SAILING on-line sailing primer lesson and  keelboat lesson as a prerequisite.  This course is not designed to substitute for certification at a US SAILING school or on-the-water lessons by a sailing instructor, but may be used as one of the tools in preparation for taking a certified sailing lessons or in continuing your sailing education.

Go To Cruising Council's Website - US SAILING's website for cruising sailors.

Contained in this Cruising Sailing Lesson are videos on how to sail and tie knots along with JavaScript calculators for estimating sailboat characteristics, design and navigation.  After you have taken the course, you may test yourself by taking an on-line examination.  The test will be graded on-line and you will be told which questions you missed.

Website information may vary depending upon the sailboat, skill of the sailor, weather conditions, etc.
