Sailing Primer

The sailing primer will present the basics of sailing for those who have never sailed before. At the end of the presentation, take the Primer Sailing Test. The presentation can be view as a HTML version, FLASH Slides, or as a video using MS Producer.

MS Producer Video: For optimal viewing requires a Cable or DSL connection along with Microsoft Explorer and Microsoft Media Player 9. The earliest compatible versions are shown below :

Do not rush the downloading. If the playback freezes just wait, the program is buffering and will resume playing. If it does not, hit the play button after a minute has passed. If you have a Dial-Up 56 k modem be sure to select the correct viewing option ( 56 kbps ) and you may have to wait up to one minute or a little longer.

The primer test is both for fun and learning. If you pass the test you can print a certificate to show your preparation for an on-the-water sailing course at a US SAILING school. If you fail the test, you will be prevented from retaking any of the tests on this website for 10 minutes to allow you to review the material. Once submitted, the computer will grade the test and notify you which questions you have missed. If you pass, you will be given a report of your test results. All information submitted in the form and test will be held in confidence.
